Landfill scorecard
Each month, for every monitored landfill: what the satellite flagged, which flags were confirmed, what each agency committed to, fires, remediation, citizen reports and the tonnes a gas meter has verified.
Every figure on this page is also written into the integrity ledger, time-stamped on Bitcoin.

Wet-waste diversion
Tonnes of wet waste each city sent to composting or biogas instead of a landfill, from municipal monthly figures.
Each tonne composted avoids about 0.91 t CO₂e and each tonne sent to biogas about 1.06 t CO₂e of future landfill methane, net of the treatment's own emissions. IPCC 2006 defaults: DOC 0.15, DOCf 0.5, MCF 0.8, F 0.5, OX 0.0; composting 4.0 kg CH₄ and 0.24 kg N₂O per tonne; biogas 0.8 kg CH₄ per tonne.
No diversion figures recorded yet.
Modelled, not measured: the avoided methane would have been released over years, so these are lifetime totals.
How to read these numbers
- Satellite figures are screening-grade; expected tonnes are modelled; only metered gas counts as a verified reduction.
- Capture plans use GWP100 27, flare destruction 98%, a methane heating value of 50 MJ/kg and engine efficiency 35%.
- Diverted wet waste uses IPCC 2006 defaults for an unmanaged deep dumpsite, net of composting or digester emissions.
- Fire days count days with a NASA FIRMS detection within 1 km of the site point that the agency has not marked as not a fire.
- Citizen reports come from partner apps with the reporter's consent and should be closed within 72 hours.
